Added support for Canon EOS R5 C in PHOTO mode.I think i can get a lens converted for both the Canon RF and the Sony mirrorless cameras which has me considering switching to either the Canon RF's where i can use my large number of Canon EF lenses and get a couple more Leica M lenses, or switch to Sony where i can do the same thing.Release Notes - ShutterCount ShutterCount Version 6.0 I had been thinkjng about getting a Leica outfit but what makes them desirable are their lenses, not the bodies so much from what i can tell. Intervalometer, peaking, custom button assignments, bracketing, zebra, histogram, 4K recording, silent (no shutter) shooting, and all that is already included in the Sony factory firmware, and these are most of the things people do with ML.Īnd with a laptop wired up to the camera I just might be able to do everything I would have wanted to do with ML. One thing I should say is that Sony does have a LOT more features out of the box than canon. I am strongly considering a move to Sony too. I recently moved to Sony though, since Canon really isn't keeping up with sensor tech and their mirrorless cameras seem way overpriced and always a year behind Sony. Sometimes play with Dual ISO too for HDR shots of moving action. I use raw histogram with 6D and 7D, SD card overclocking with 6D and raw files encryption with 7D.įocus peaking, zebra of over/under exposed regions, and intervalometer mostly, sometimes also use the clap-hands-to-trigger-shutter mode for group photos. If you install Magic Lantern you can see it in the Magic Lantern "Debug" MenuĦ) There is also an option to always default to the CF card on the 5D3: (avoids accidentally switching to the SD card when you pull the CF card) ĥ) There is a built-in shutter count but Canon chooses not to let the user see it. This is very useful when shooting JPEGs where you have to get it right the first time. I do a quick "Auto adjust Kelvin" in Liveview and then switch back to normal viewfinder shooting and it nails the WB for the rest of the shots. It is only available in Liveview but it makes for perfect WB in difficult Tungsten or Fluorescent lighting. Here is a video I made that shows how the values change as you change focus distance or focal length.Ĥ) One feature I REALLY like is "Auto adjust Kelvin". The values change with any changes to aperture, focus distance or focal length. Here are some of the things I use ML on my 5D3 and SL1:ģ) Focus information display on the rear LCD: Focus Distance, DOF Near, DOF Far, and Hyperfocal Distance. Also the built in intervalometer, for star trails, and bulb timer for 6 & 10 stop filters Automatic exposure bracketing, if there are too many shadows/hi-lights it takes another bracketed shot, from single to 9 automatically. I also use it in still photography for checking ETTR, different grid displays, and information overlays. I also have used it for taking videos (at a resolution and bit-rate that the stock Canon firmware does not allow). I use it for LiveView/Focus peaking, since I have a large set of manual lenses and this helps me with critical focus. I use it pretty much every time on my 5DM3. Hi all, I'm aware of all the features and fancy things Magic Lantern can do, but curious in practicality, how it's users are using it.
